Today I picked up the package that’s probably been sitting in the apartment office for several days, the package containing my novel proof from CreateSpace.

I took the cover photo. The house in theΒ novel is actually a dirty white color, but I (stupidly) never shot any photos of derelict white houses in Savannah, and I definitely wanted a derelict Savannah structure. This color discrepancy would probably bother me as a reader, but I’m pleased with how the image works on the cover. Here’s the original:

And another shot of the building, which stands near the bison exhibit at the Oatland Island Nature Center:

Unfortunately, the color contrast on the back of the book cover is less distinct than it appeared on the computer, and the lovely purple I chose for the background is so dark that it’s impossible to read the black text in which the blurb about the novel is written. So I had to tweak the colors, which means, I believe, that I’ll need to order another proof for approval before the book becomes available online. But I’ll post with bells and whistles (and a link to Amazon) as soon as it’s ready!

Here’s my No. 1 fan checking out the proof:

I’m currently reading your book. I usually don’t say I like or dislike a book till the very end. I discovered this page in a Google search of your name. I am enjoying the read despite my above comment, I have to admit the writing style bothered me somewhat in the beginning but the story so far, they way you have written it and the way you describe things seems perfect for the style of book. I do get chills reading it! But I love a good horror even if I have to put it down every so often due to an over active imagination! Well done on your first novel.

    Emma.

Hi! I apologize that it’s taken so inexcusably long for me to approve your comment and respond. For a variety of reasons, I’ve had no time to visit my blog for the past month. But I wanted to let you know I really appreciate the feedback, and I’m glad to hear the book is giving you chills! πŸ™‚ If you have any suggestions, please let me know; I’m seeking an agent and revising the MS, so feedback is welcome. How did you run across the book?
