After attending a pool party in Savannah on Saturday,
I headed to Wilmington, N.C., on Sunday, to visit my sister and brother-in-law. My sister plays in a sand volleyball league, so I watched her team play a couple matches that evening.
My sister was able to take off work the next day, so we went to the beach, where she boogie boarded and I collected shells. I definitely felt like I was on vacation in the South–pool party, sand volleyball, and beach–this was far more outdoor time than I ever spent consecutively when I lived there.
Then we headed downtown, for a delicious lunch at Dockside Oysters, a stroll along the Cape Fear riverfront, and some chocolate.
Oh, and I had a gargoyle sighting!
It was a pleasant visit, and I enjoyed catching up with my sister and brother-in-law (and their dog, who somewhat allayed my Bishop withdrawal). When I set out to leave Wilmington, however, I kind of got lost and drove around an enormous triangle spanning the city. Typical of me, I know…but I did run across this really cool park.
