After the Waldo Canyon fire was contained, I stopped following fire news in the Western United States for awhile. I think there’s only so much devastation and destruction a person can take. (I feel the same way about the Presidential race, especially the ads. From both sides.) But fires are still burning; as of yesterday, we heard there were 70 in the Western states. We have haze right now from blazes up in Wyoming, although Colorado, amazingly enough, has no fires at the moment (knocking on wood).

Anyway, I learned yesterday that there’s a major wildfire in Washington State, around the town of Cle Elum. The following are photos I took two summers ago during a vacation in that area. It is a beautiful area and I hope that there, and everywhere else, damage is minimal and the fires will soon be out.

To everyone in the affected areas: My thoughts are with you. I hope you are able to stay safe and suffer no further losses.
