After much consideration, some online research, and a few conversations, I’ve come to the perhaps inevitable conclusion that I need to “re-brand” my blog. Until now, it’s been a forum for me to discuss anything on my mind, at least anything I’m not afraid to have my mother read. 🙂 But in consideration of numerous factors, I have reluctantly decided that the focus here needs to be more professional, more focused on writing, reading, photography, and those sorts of topics, and less intensely personal.
That’s not to say the personal entries are disappearing. I debated deleting them entirely but opted not to for two reasons: First, it seems like every time I write something raw and desperate, I lose a Facebook friend or two but gain “likes” and followers over here — usually complete strangers. If you’re one of them, I thank and appreciate you! This suggests to me that there’s some value in those posts; I hope they somehow benefit someone, somewhere, and if that’s a possibility, then I think it’s worth keeping them accessible.
The second reason is how much those posts help me. I can’t express how important it is to know that people out there — even if they’re across the country, and whether I know them or not — hear and respond, encourage me and remind me of their love. So I’ve started a new blog, Angels and Gargoyles (yes, there’s a theme here; my soul is a goth cliche), for posts about moods, spirituality, struggles, etc. I’ll be migrating old posts that fit into these categories over to that blog and making them invisible here. (I thought I’d started that project the other night and just ended up re-posting them all here–if you’re one of my Facebook friends who received a jillion notifications for new posts, I apologize!) So if you’re one of the people interested in those entries, please check out the new blog!
