News from the 4 p.m. press conference:
- The fire is 45% contained!
- All people reported missing after the evacuations have been accounted for. The only fatalities were the couple found in their home.
- People evacuated from Woodland Park, Crystola, and Green Mountain Falls will be able to return to their homes tomorrow. Because of continued firefighting efforts along Highway 24, only residents with ID will be allowed through.
- One problem with the above communities is the influx of bears driven down into the valley by the fire.
- Tomorrow, city buses will transport residents of Mountain Shadows to their homes to see damage. The authorities are asking that no one enter the burned structures because of instability in remaining parts, and that people do not bring children because of the danger of open foundations, basements, etc.
- Most asinine question from the press conference: “When will the fire be 100% contained?”
